Solas Business is a development programme that aims to teach children life skills while encouraging creativity and entrepreneurship.
These goals are achieved through corporate mentoring and exposure to a business environment that grounds their knowledge in reality.
The programme pairs each local school with a business. These corporate supporters provide volunteers to come alongside the students for a period of five weeks. Together with their mentors, students develop a business idea or product and prepare to present it to “The Boardroom.”
When Solas Business began in 2013 (formerly Dragon's Den), there were six local primary schools involved. Since then, it has grown to reach twelve primary schools and two secondary schools.
If you are a business interested in taking part or would like more information on Solas Business, please contact Pete Thompson.
