Healthy Eating @ The Club

The Club is our after schools programme which has been running since 2007. It is designed to be a 'home away from home' and involves fun activities, helping with homework and sitting around a table to have a nice home cooked meal with our lovely volunteers.

As part of our goal to support children to grow up healthy and confident, Our Senior After School's Club here at Solas Project have been taking part in a healthy eating programme with Cool Dudes

Throughout the 5 week programme the kids are taught all about nutrition and the benefits of healthy eating. As well as that, they get to cook lots of yummy food and learn new delicious recipes. They even learned how to make a healthy pizza, now that's something we wouldn't mind tasting!

Solas Project Summer Programme! - We need your help :)

With the school term almost out - we are eagerly awaiting the start of Summer, the weather has been teasing us, but we have faith it's on the way!!

Every Summer, over July & August we look forward to running our Summer Projects for The Club & The Yard. It's a great way for us to keep engaged with our young people throughout the Summer months and provide a constructive, productive, but most importantly fun way for them to spend 3 weeks of their long Summer holidays.

More relaxed than programmes during the academic year, Summer project is all about new experiences, adventures, making friends and memories. Just being kids really.

Here's where you come in! The cost of one child to attend a week of our Summer project is €80, can contribute towards a child's Summer?

One of our favourite activities is to go bog jumping in Causey Farm - what child doesn't love being encouraged to jump in the muck!

Please donate what you can so we can bring everyone along!

Step Up Graduation Day!

Step Up is a one-to-one mentoring club for young people transitioning from primary school to secondary school. Step Up runs three evening a week and focuses on personal development.

We had a great evening on Monday when we celebrated the young people graduating from our Step Up Programme. Each young person received a certificate of accomplishment and their mentors said a few words about them and their experience together. As well as the awards ceremony, there were some team games played, including a competitive game of Human Hungry Hippos!

We are so very proud of each young person who graduated and we are extremely grateful for all 36 mentors who helped throughout this last year.

Congratulations to the class of 2015!

Take part in our Sporting Proud Triathlon - 5th September 2015

We are beyond excited to have been selected yet again for the 2015 Sporting Proud Triathlon.

On 5th September 2015, we'll be taking to the roads and seas of Brittas Bay for our annual triathlon. The funds we raise from this day are vital for the work we do in the community.

You can enter as an individual or part of a team, taking part in the Sprint or Olympic distances.

It's a super fun family day out, we really hope you can join us after the event for a BBQ.

The big event of the week of course was our Solas Business Community Final!

Solas Business is part of our Solas@school initiative - working to support young people in their transition from Primary to Secondary school. It was so exciting as over 190 young people gathered in St Catherines Church, Thomas St to hear the 9 schools present their business idea. Representatives from the 9 participating corporates; Google, Boys & Girls, Quantcast, Mainstream, Goodbody Stockbrokers, Byrne Wallace, Dunhumby, Savills & AWAC.

After some tough deliberations by our Dragons - the winners were announced to be: St Audeons National School with their app 'Bully Bug'. An app that will help young people who are struggling with bullying. The dragons saw great potential in it, as did we! Well done to all!

A huge thank you to all our corporate partners & schools. We couldn't run this programme without your support.
